Finding Strength to Thrive Daily
Is inner strength the secret to thriving in daily life?
"Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always." 1 Chronicles 16:11 NIV
Our body, soul, and spirit all need strength each day. And they all get strength differently. Sometimes, the strength of one influences the other.
Have you seen a depressed man before? Even his body becomes weak in the process.
How about when you're hungry? It becomes increasingly hard to think, so your soul becomes weak, too.
God knows we need strength to live fulfilled lives here on earth, and the author of the anchor scripture gives us a way to get that strength.
The first step to getting that strength isn't just by constantly asking God for strength but by seeking His face. At the end of the verse, the author explains that by seeking God's face, our full attention becomes focused on God, and we become expectant of His strength.
It is important to note that we're not looking to God to increase our strength but to empower our spirit with His strength.
Seek God's face daily at your desired time. Ask for His presence to be with you every second. You'll see that even when it seems things are about to go wrong, you'll remember that God is present with you, and you'll tap into His strength to go through tough events.
How does an empowered spirit help us physically at work?
We know from experience that when we're in high spirits and full of joy, we act differently. We also know that what we give our attention to fills our minds.
If all you think about are the terrible things happening around you, you'll almost not do anything right.
But when you're focused on what God can do in that terrible situation, you permit your creative mind to pull solutions into the physical realm.
We often think the strength received from God is only for tough times, but it's for everyday life.
Part of the reason we complain about overwork and burnout is because for so long, we left our spirit unattended to and focused on physical strength.
But an empowered spirit fills you with wisdom to know when to work and when to rest. It also tells you when you're wrongly spending time on an unproductive distraction or when you should respond calmly to your team member.
The benefits are endless.
"I strengthen myself daily by starting these habits."
It's time to take action by writing down how you'd like to be strengthened across your spirit, soul, and body.
