Quick Question: What's the single biggest challenge you're having with feeling fulfilled at work? Click here to send me your anonymous answer :).
"Everything we could ever need for life and godliness has already been deposited in us by his divine power." II Peter 1:3 NKJV
Whenever my daughter sees anything that belongs to me or her mom, she claims it by saying, "It's my own." Sometimes I laugh and wonder when and how I transferred ownership. She owns it so much that she uses that liberty to use it as she pleases.
When this happens, I think that, truly, as parents, all we have belongs to our children. When we write a will, we simply legally enforce that transfer of ownership so that there's no contention. But they already own it.
We are children of God, and the anchor scripture says everything we need to live a life that pleases God has been given to us. This means we should not struggle to please God because we have the resources to do so.
Then why do we struggle with addictions, depression, sadness, anxiety, or just doing what is right?
We don't yet know our full identity in Christ. We know part of it and practice what we know. But as we grow in the knowledge of God, we grow in our identity too.
How can we walk in this reality as we work?
It can be a challenge to identify what God wants us to do. In our bid to find it, we get frustrated, impatient, and moody, asking God questions. This was the case for me.
But the liberating truth for me was to identify what it meant to live a life that pleased God. In the context of work, that meant ensuring I wasn't the third servant in Matthew 25:14–29.
When you decide to multiply what God has placed in your hands without being tempted to bury it or let your perception of God stop the assignment, you please your Father.
We are yet to fully unpack what we have been given in Christ. We have so many gifts lying around, and until we unwrap all of them, we'll keep thinking that there's something we don't have.
"I choose to live a life that pleases God by working with what He has given me."
You are a bank of deposits, and it's time to invest those deposits. When you live with the mentality that nothing dies in your hands, you'll give life to everything you touch.
Ask God to reveal what His divine power has deposited in you and commit to using it for His glory.
